Enduring Perspective

The greatest meaning in art is not so much the appearance of things, but the inner understanding it awakens. We can talk about the balance and symmetry, the depth communicated in the perspective or any number of contributing artistic factors, but the real value lies in what genuine human truths it might awaken in the heart and soul of the viewer. Pier pilons are set in one of the most brutal of hostile environments. They are relentlessly beaten and pummeled year after year but endure and persevere through all the abuse. Every individual that has ever walked the earth will be battered with hardship and challenge. We all experience hard things that seem to be trying to break us. But overcoming the hard things in life is the real source of any acquired strength. No strong man ever became strong by sitting around. Strength comes only from overcoming obstacles that are difficult and push back. The greatest of achievers understand and accept this … and push on.
