The Crystal Mill powerhouse for the town of Crystal and local silver mines from 1892 to 1917, and one of the most photographed historic sites in Colorado. Getting here was an adventure, negotiating a rugged 4x4 road from Marble, Colorado for 3.7 miles, but well worth the effort. The Crystal Mill has been one of my bucket list photos for some time and I was thrilled to finally get this shot in the fall of 2022. Having lived my life in the southwest, I have been forever drawn to the character and message of historic structures from the old west. The distant mountains, fall colors and gentle Crystal River make for a classic scene from Colorado's rich history.
