We were returning from the lowlands of Ecuador on a project to photograph children and families who make their home along the Napo river, a tributary to the Amazon. The rain had let up a bit while climbing through the higher elevations enroute to Quito, when we came upon this old bridge. The sound of the river at full flow was awesome as I stopped mid-span for a few shots. It crossed to a sturdy cement structure but nothing more, the dense jungle having apparently overtaken some former pathway. Looking back, there wasn't much room for a shot, but it turned out as a favorite for the day. It's a simple capture of a land with a culture and history far removed my own.
