I had envisioned the shot I wanted, but knew that the long exposure would require my tripod and camera positioned right in the middle of the street. I have done this in many countries around the world, and survived. As per my extensive experience at the art of world street photography; no one drives down the center of the street right on top of the dividing line. However, in Rome, motorcycles apparently take the center hash-marked area to pass slow moving traffic. It became my Roman near-death experience. With numerous universal language gestures and presumed Italian obscenities hurled in my direction by swerving motorcyclists, I narrowly escaped … but got the shot!
